Winnipeg Jets News

Hellebuyck is in the starter's crease at Winnipeg's morning skate.

After tremendous performances while representing Team USA at the Olympics, propelling them to a Gold Medal, Hellebuyck has returned to uncharacteristically subpar performances while representing the Jets this season. That said, he was solid in his most recent outing, saving 31 of 33 shots (.939 SV%) in a 3-2 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks, which was the first time he has allowed fewer than three goals in seven outings (1-3-3). The Jets enter Tuesday's contest as -154 home favourites against the Chicago Blackhawks, who are coming off an impressive 4-0 win over the Utah Mammoth.

Niederreiter (lower-body) is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks.

Niederreiter scored one goal in five games while representing Switzerland at the Olympics, but suffered a lower-body injury that will sideline him for at least the next four weeks. The 33-year-old veteran forward has 19 points (8G / 11A) in 55 games with Winnipeg this season.

Nino Niederreiter
Morrissey (upper-body) is hopeful to return by the weekend.

Morrissey was unable to contribute to Team Canada at the Olympics after suffering an injury in their opening game and has missed three games for the Jets since. With Neal Pionk also injured, Logan Stanley has filled in as the team's quarterback on the top powerplay unit. Still, they will be eager to regain Morrissey's services, hopefully by this weekend. The 30-year-old Morrissey has 42 points (10G / 32A) in 56 games this season.

The Jets placed Niederreiter (undisclosed) on injured reserve on Friday.

Niederreiter scored one goal in five games while representing Switzerland at the Olympics, but will be out of the Jets' lineup on a week-to-week basis due to an undisclosed injury. The 33-year-old veteran forward has 19 points (8G / 11A) in 55 games with Winnipeg this season.

Hellebuyck will start in Anaheim on Friday.

Hellebuyck was tremendous for Team USA at the Olympics, helping them secure the Gold Medal, and was given an extra night off when Winnipeg returned to action on Wednesday. That said, Hellebuyck will likely return to the Jets' crease on Friday against the Anaheim Ducks. The 32-year-old Hellebuyck hopes his recent international success will translate to the NHL level, where he has battled some adversity this season. The three-time Vezina-winning goalie entered the Olympic break allowing three or more goals in five straight games (1-3-1), posting a subpar 3.69 GAA and .879 SV%. The Jets enter Friday's contest as +115 road underdogs against a Ducks team coming off a rollercoaster 6-5 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Pionk is week-to-week with a new, undisclosed injury.

Pionk did not play the final four weeks leading up to the Olympic break and will remain sidelined when the team returns to action, out week-to-week with a new ailment. With Josh Morrissey (upper body) also sidelined, Logan Stanley will likely fill in as the interim quarterback on Winnipeg's top powerplay unit.

Morrissey (upper-body) has been placed on IR.

Morrissey was not able to contribute to Team Canada at the Olympics after suffering an injury in their opening game, and will remain sidelined when the Jets return to action on Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks. The Jets have recalled Kale Clague from Manitoba (AHL) in a corresponding move.
