The Predators have recalled Filip Forsberg from Milwaukee (AHL).

Forsberg had been loaned to team Sweden for the World Junior Championships, where he scored four goals and added eight helpers (12 points) in seven games, earning MVP honours. With Patric Hornqvist potentially out tonight, Forsberg would likely slide right back into the Predators lineup. He has one goal and four assists with a minus-8 rating in 12 games.

Ryan O’Reilly might miss Thursday’s game against Ottawa because of a bizarre shoulder injury he suffered in celebrating a goal Tuesday night.

O’Reilly hurt his left shoulder while celebrating the Avs’ third goal, by Paul Stastny. Essentially, he got it jammed while extending his left arm into the group hug. The Avs say he is day-to-day, so we’ll see tomorrow if he plays or not against Ottawa

The Wild have recalled Erik Haula from Iowa (AHL).

Haula has tallied 17 points (9G / 8A) in 24 games with Iowa this season. The 22-year-old is tied for first on the team in goals, scoring and power-play goals with four. Haula recorded an assist in his NHL debut on November 29 vs. Colorado and owns two assists and a plus-3 rating in 10 games with Minnesota this season.

Stamkos continues to skate as he works his way back from a broken tibia that he suffered on November 11. His recovery to this point has been extremely promising and impressive as he works his way back for early February and the Sochi Winter Olympics. He had 14 goals and 25 points in 17 games prior to breaking his leg.

The Wild have reassigned forward Erik Haula to Iowa (AHL).

Haula has collected two assists and a plus-3 rating in 10 games with Minnesota this season. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound has tallied 14 points (7G / 7A) in 20 games with Iowa this season. The 22-year-old ranks tied for first on the team with four power-play goals, and third in goals and scoring.

Nashville Predators prospect Filip Forsberg will, indeed, play for Sweden in the 2014 World Junior Championships.

Head coach Barry Trotz the team would allow him to play in the tournament, provided he’s cleared to return to action. “Only injury can stop him now,” Peter Forsberg, the team’s Vice President, told the Swedish media. The Ostervala, Sweden native has participated in the last two World Junior tournaments and served as his team’s captain last year.

Stamkos (leg) started skating this morning.

Pretty incredible that Stamkos is back on the ice one month and three days after breaking his leg. He was in a track suit this morning, but it is still fantastic news. He will continue to skate as he works his way back and will continue to be monitored closely. He is way ahead of schedule on his recovery which is great news for fantasy owners, the Lightning and Team Canada.

The Minnesota Wild has swapped a couple of forwards with Iowa (AHL). The club has recalled forward Erik Haula from the Iowa Wild and reassigned forward Jason Zucker.

Haula has recorded 14 points (7-7=14) in 20 games with Iowa this season. The 22-year-old ranks tied for first on the team in scoring and power-play goals with four, is tied for second in goals and tied for third in assists. He recorded an assist in his NHL debut on November 29 vs. Colorado and has two assists in six games with Minnesota this season.

The Minnesota Wild has recalled forward Erik Haula from the Iowa Wild (AHL) because Mike Rupp has been designated non-roster status and will leave the team for personal reasons.

Haula is tied for 2nd on Iowa with 10 points (4G / 6A) in 18 games this season. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound forward is expected to make his NHL debut tonight as the Minnesota hosts Colorado. The 22-year-old totaled two assists in six games with Houston (AHL) last season and two points in five playoff contests.

After spending four days at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Lightning C Steven Stamkos returned to Tampa on Thursday, two days after undergoing surgery for a broken right tibia sustained Monday during a game against the Bruins.

There is no an established timetable for Stamkos to recover from his surgery, which included the insertion of a titanium rod the length of the tibia, though he is expected to begin his rehabilitation right away. The normal time frame is 4-6 months, but there is still some optimism that Stammer could be ready to go for the Olympics, so we will see how his recovery goes.

Forsberg posted six points (1G / 5A) during a four-game stint with Milwaukee, reaching the scoresheet in each game. He started the season with Nashville, amassing five points (1G / 4A) in 11 games, including an assist in his most recent contest, a 6-4 victory over Colorado on November 6. The Predators have posted an 8-2-1 record with the Swede in the lineup in 2013-14.

Forsberg has struggled in his first full season with the Predators. The 19-year-old has one one goal and four assists with a minus-8 rating in 11 games. He has seen his ice time diminish in recent games, so he will head to the AHL where he will see plenty of ice time. Taylor Beck has been recalled with Forsberg going down.
