Saros had a forgetful night on Tuesday, allowing four goals on 19 shots (.789 SV%) in a 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres, and will return to the crease on Thursday, hoping to redeem himself against the Ottawa Senators. Before Tuesday's loss, the 30-year-old Saros had strung together a stretch of solid outings, posting a 2.34 GAA and .928 SV% in his previous four (3-1-0). The Predators enter Thursday's contest as +103 home underdogs against a Senators team that has collected points in five straight games (3-0-2).

Wiesblatt has not played since early December because of an upper-body injury, but he will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres. The 23-year-old forward was averaging 10:38 time-on-ice and had four points (1G / 3A) in 24 games before his injury.

Saros has been inconsistent most of the season, but is riding a hot streak, winning three of his last four games (3-1-0), while posting a solid 2.34 GAA and .928 SV%. His season totals don't reflect the pedigree that previously made him a Vezina Trophy Finalist, but his 19-15-3 record is already a vast improvement over the 20-31-6 record he sported in 2024-25. The Predators enter Tuesday's contest as -119 home favorites against a Buffalo Sabres team that lost 2-1 last night to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Wiesblatt has not played since early December because of an upper-body injury, but he could return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres. The 23-year-old forward was averaging 10:38 time-on-ice and had four points (1G / 3A) in 24 games before his injury.

Shaefer made his NHL debut this season, scoring six points (4G / 2A) in 25 games with the Predators, but will head down to Milwaukee (AHL). The 22-year-old 32nd-overall pick from the 2022 NHL Entry Draft exclusively spent the previous two seasons in the AHL with Milwaukee.

The Predators will unsurprisingly turn to their franchise netminder when they travel to Denver to take on the mighty Avalanche on Friday. Saros secured the victory in his last start, stopping 28 of the 31 shots he faced in a 4-3 overtime victory over the Oilers on Tuesday. The 11-year-veteran owns an 18-15-3 record and an .897 SV% across a league leading 36 appearances this season. Saros and the Preds enter action on Friday as major underdogs at +260 on the money line.

Before the 2025-26 season, Englund exclusively played in the NHL for the previous two seasons. That said, the 29-year-old defenseman has spent the entirety of this season in the AHL, where he has six points (2G / 4A) in 30 games with the Milwaukee Admirals.

Wilsby has played a career-high 36 games this season, but will head to the sidelines on a day-to-day basis because of a lower-body injury. The 25-year-old defenseman is averaging 16:59 time-on-ice and has seven points (1G / 6A).

The transaction does not change the injury timeline for Marchessault. He has not played since December 17th but is still considered day-to-day. The 34-year-old Marchessault has 10 points (7G / 3A) in 28 games this season.

Barron was a surprise addition to the lineup, filling in for Nicolas Hague (illness). Barron has zero goals and four assists in 21 games this season.

Hague was a surprise scratch on Tuesday, with the Preds not announcing his absence prior to warmups. Justin Barron will dress in his place.

Saros is coming off a frustrating 3-0 shutout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, where he saved 18 of 20 shots (.900 SV%), and will hope for some goal support when he returns to the crease on Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers. The 30-year-old Finnish goalie has been serviceable in recent weeks, posting a 2.82 GAA and .906 SV% in his last 16 games (10-6-0). That said, the Predators enter Tuesday's contest as slight +104 home underdogs against an Oilers team that defeated them 6-2 one week ago.
