Fabbri suffered and ankle injury in Tuesday’s win over the Avalanche, but it doesn’t sound like it is very serious. He will miss the next few games, but is expected to be back before the end of the regular season.

Fabbri left last night’s game after playing 11:55 TOI. The Blues will not practice on Wednesday, so there likely won’t be an update on Fabbri’s status until Thursday.

Foligno missed Tuesday’s game with an illness, but will return to the lineup tonight vs. the Hurricanes. Foligno has had a down year, posting just nine goals and 25 assists (34 points) in 63 games.

Johansson did not participate in the Capitals’ morning skate because of an illness, but head coach Barry Trotz expects Joahnsson to play on Monday. Monitor Johansson’s status during the pregame warmups, but expect Stanislav Galiev to play if Johansson can’t.


Despite taking part in pregame warmups, Spurgeon will sit out for a third straight game.

Spurgeon has missed the last two games with an undisclosed injury, but his availability for warmups suggests he may return this afternoon. Monitor his status around five minutes before puck-drop to see if he is in or scratched.

With Spurgeon out, Mike Reilly will be back in the lineup after being recalled from Iowa (AHL) and Christian Folin is expected to skate on the top pair with Ryan Suter. Spurgeon is listed as day-to-day.

Petry will not play tonight because of a lower-body injury, so Nathan Beaulieu will re-enter the lineup after sitting for the last two games. Petry is on-pace for 25 points this season, which would tie his career-high set in 2011-12. Petry is considered day-to-day.
