Murray will start Wednesday vs. the Lightning.

Murray allowed six goals on 32 shots in the Penguins loss to New Jersey on Monday. It was a rare loss for Murray, who has been lights out since returning from injury. Tonight he draws a brutal matchup vs. the NHL’s top team—Murray allowed four goals on 26 shots in a 4-3 loss in his first start vs. the Lightning (Nov.15).

The Stars have acquired Jamie Oleksiak from the Penguins for a 2019 fourth-round draft pick.

The Penguins acquired Oleksiak from the Stars last season for the very same fourth-round pick that the Stars just sent back to them. It was essentially an 83-game loan, where Oleksiak had eight goals and 17 assists (25 points). The move frees up $2.1375M in cap space for the Penguins.

Murray allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Penguins win in Arizona on January 18th. Unsurprisingly, Murray will start the first game out of the Penguins’ bye week and comes in having gone 10-1-0 with a 1.81 GAA, .944 SV% and two shutouts in 11 games since returning from injury. Murray has been excellent and is a quality option against a Devils team that is still missing Taylor Hall.

Grubauer will start Wednesday vs. the Wild.

Grubauer gave up six goals on 20 shots in Winnipeg back on January 8th. Semyon Varlamov had an extended run in Colorado’s crease but Grubauer will get a shot at the Wild on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has gone 4-2-1 with a 2.94 GAA and .894 SV% at the Pepsi Center this season.

Murray stopped 36 of 37 shots in the Penguins win over the Panthers on Tuesday. Murray can’t be beat right now. Since returning from his injury, Murray has gone 7-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA, .970 SV% and two shutouts in seven games. Over the course of the season, Murray has gone 7-0-1 with a 1.78 GAA, .948 SV% and two shutouts on the road.

Grubauer allowed one goal on 25 shots in Colorado’s win over the Rangers last Friday. The victory snapped a four-game losing skid for Grubauer, who will make his 20th appearance of the season this evening. The matchup is rough and his road numbers haven’t been pretty this season—5-2-2, 3.25 GAA and .906 SV%.

Murray stopped all 33 shots that he faced in the Penguins shutout win over the Jets last Friday. Murray has been absolutely unbelievable since returning from his injury, going 7-0-0 with a 1.27 GAA, .962 SV% and two shutouts in seven starts. He is a must-start right now regardless of the matchup.

The Islanders have activated Jordan Eberle (undisclosed) from IR.

Eberle has missed the last four games with an undisclosed injury but appears ready to return to the lineup on Saturday. Eberle will likely re-claim his spot on the top-line from Josh Ho-Sang and returns to the lineup with 17 points (7G / 10A) in 35 games this season.

Grubauer will start Friday vs. the Rangers.

Grubauer was pulled after allowed four goals on 14 shots in Colorado’s loss to the Sharks on Wednesday. Grubauer has lost four straight games while allowing a combined 12 goals on 101 shots (.881 SV%). As bad as he and the Avalanche have been as of late, he has a nice matchup against a Rangers team that is 6-10-2 on the road.
