Liljeren has been producing while eating big minutes on the Maple Leafs' blueline lately, scoring seven points (0G / 7A) in his last six games while averaging 22:31 time-on-ice after averaging only 17:36 in his previous 10 games. The defenseman was forced to leave Toronto's game vs. Colorado on Saturday due to an undisclosed injury and will be a game-time decision on Tuesday after missing practice.

Despite having an excellent outing on Sunday, saving 31 of 33 shots (.939 SV%), Jarry allowed two late goals en route to a 2-1 regulation loss to the Los Angeles Kings and will serve as the backup to Nedeljkovic on Tuesday night. Nedeljkovic has played well lately, including a 27-save performance (.964 SV%) in his last outing, a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on February 15th, the Penguins' only win in the last 12 days (1-4-0). That said, the Penguins are -130 home favourites against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

Couture's season to forget earned another chapter last Monday as the center experienced a setback related to his minor groin injury and is now expected to be out week-to-week. The 34-year-old has only been able to appear in six games for the Sharks this season and has an assist, seven SOG, and four PIMs. He will be on Injured Reserve indefinitely.

Nedeljkovic will start in Chicago on Thursday.

As expected, Nedeljkovic will be between the pipes for the Penguins as they travel to Chicago on Thursday to play their second game in as many nights. Nedeljkovic's last start came on February 9th in Minnesota, when he allowed three goals on 30 shots enroute to a 3-2 defeat. Nedeljkovic has performed well when called upon this season, posting an 8-4-3 record to go along with an impressive .917 SV%. He and the Penguins are -190 favourites to pick up the win in Chicago on Thursday.

Reaves has played five straight games, recording one goal and 15 hits, after being a healthy scratch for most of the previous two months. He will be a healthy scratch on Thursday, indicating that one or both of Mitch Marner and John Tavares will likely return to the lineup from illness.

Afanasyev was recalled along with Mark Jankowski on Monday in moves corresponding to Philip Tomasino being reassigned to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). Afanasyev was the 45th overall pick of the Predators in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and has been enjoying a terrific season at the AHL level, scoring 42 points (21G / 21A) in 42 games.
