Nedeljkovic will start vs. New York on Friday.

Nedeljkovic has been all the rage of the NHL after his fight on Monday vs. Sergei Bobrovsky made headlines and has earned himself another start on Friday vs. the Rangers. The 30-year-old has a decent 9-8-2 record despite his uglier .896 SV% and 2.96 GAA this season. He will host the struggling New York Rangers on Friday who have lost seven of their last eight games being outscored 42 to 24 during that span.

Chernyshov has been re-assigned to the San Jose Barracuda (AHL).

With the return of Will Smith and the emergence of Pavol Regenda, Igor Chernyshov found himself the odd man out and was re-assigned to the San Jose Barracuda (AHL) on Thursday. The 20-year-old Russian forward will surely be San Jose's first call up when needed after he had an impressive first NHL stint, with three goals and 11 points in 15 games played.

Sherwood (undisclosed) will not make his Sharks' debut on Friday and is considered day-to-day.

Sherwood has not played in nearly two weeks due to an undisclosed injury, and his first game with the San Jose Sharks will have to wait, but it should be before the Olympic break. The 29-year-old hard-hitting Sherwood truly broke out last season, scoring 40 points (19G / 21A) and recording an absurd 462 hits in 78 games. He has continued the 2025-26 season on a similar pace, with 23 points (17G / 6A) and 210 hits through 44 games.

Nedeljkovic will start in Florida on Monday.

Yaroslav Askarov has struggled lately, allowing three or more goals in 14 consecutive games (7-7-0), so the team will turn to Nedeljkovic, who is riding a three-game winning streak. The 30-year-old Nedeljkovic has faced his own ups and downs this season, but has a winning 5-3-0 record in his last nine appearances, posting a 2.84 GAA and .887 SV%. The Sharks enter Monday's contest as +168 road underdogs against a motivated Florida Panthers team that will welcome Matthew Tkachuk into the lineup for his season debut.

Skinner will be a healthy scratch vs. Detroit on Friday.

With Will Smith (upper body) set to return, Jeff Skinner will head to the press box as a healthy scratch. The 33-year-old Skinner has struggled this season with only 13 points (6G / 7A) in 32 games. That said, he has five points (1G / 4A) in his last five games.

Askarov will start in Detroit on Friday.

In their last 21 games (12-9-0), the Sharks have allowed fewer than three goals only three times, all while Alex Nedeljkovic has been between the pipes. During that stretch, the Sharks rank second-worst in the league defensively (4.00 GA/GP), and have not received the stout netminding from Askarov that they became accustomed to earlier in the season. In his last 13 games (7-6-0), the 23-year-old Askarov has an ugly 3.64 GAA and .865 SV%. The Sharks enter Friday’s contest as +158 road underdogs against a Detroit Red Wings team whose four-game winning streak was snapped on Tuesday in a 3-0 loss to the Boston Bruins.
