Grzelcyk (concussion protocol) will not play in Game 3 in St. Louis.

Grzelcyk was crunched from behind by Oskar Sundqvist in Game 2 and will not be available for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Sundqvist was handed a two-minute minor on the play but has been suspended for Game 3. John Moore is expected to replace Grzelcyk in the lineup on Saturday.

The Bruins signed Matt Grzelcyk to a two-year extension worth $2.8 million ($1.4M AAV) on Friday.

Grzelcyk, 24, became an integral part of the Bruins’ blueline in 2017-18 after spending the majority of his first pro season in the AHL. The 2012 third-round pick (No.85 overall) registered three goals and 12 assists (15 points) in 61 games with the Bruins. Grzelcyk will likely be a third-pairing defenseman on the left-side behind Torey Krug and Zdeno Chara next season.

The Bruins have sent Matt Grzelcyk to Providence (AHL).

Grzelcyk cracked the opening night roster thanks to a Torey Krug preseason injury, but with Krug set to return on Monday, Grzelcyk was sent back to the AHL. The 23-year-old was a plus-1 with two shots on goal in 12:11 TOI in the season opener. He returns to Providence where he had 32 points (6G / 26A) in 70 games during his first professional campaign.
