After putting up an impressive 39 goals and 72 points with Texas (AHL) in 2024-25, Matej Blumel has earned himself a one-year, $875,000 one-way contract with the Boston Bruins. The 25-year-old Czech right winger was originally drafted by Edmonton in the 2019 4th round (100th overall) and has appeared in 13 total NHL games across the last three seasons with Dallas.

Blumel made his season debut for Dallas on Saturday, filling in for Sam Steel (undisclosed). The 24-year-old Blumel played 8:00 time-on-ice and had two shots in goal while playing in his first NHL game since the 2022-23 season.


Blumel completed his second season in North America with Texas (AHL) in 2023-24 and has signed a one-year, two-way contract to star with the Stars in 2024-25. The 24-year-old winger made his NHL debut and only NHL appearance in 2022-23 and had one goal in six games played. In 72 games with Texas (AHL) last season, he had 31 goals and 62 points.

Blumel was recalled on Sunday purely for salary cap purposes as the Stars have opted to return him to the Texas Stars and have recalled defensemen Derrick Pouliot and Alex Petrovic instead. Blumel has been having an impressive season with the Texas Stars (AHL), scoring 38 points (20G / 18A) in 46 games.


Blumel has been loaned to the Texas Stars (AHL) unexpectedly after Dallas recalled two goaltenders (Remi Poirier and Adam Scheel) on Friday. Blumel returns to the AHL where he dominated prior to his call-up, posting 11 points (5G/6A) in nine games. In four games with the Dallas Stars in the NHL he had a goal in four games while filling a top-six role.

Blumel has been great for Texas (AHL) prior to his promotion, scoring five goals and 11 points in his first nine games prior to his promotion to Dallas. The 22-year-old will make his NHL debut on Friday vs. the San Jose Sharks.
