A couple of significant names will be out of the lineup for one of the PWHL’s top teams.

On Thursday, the Montreal Victoire announced that defenseman Erin Ambrose has been placed on long-term injured reserve with a lower-body injury, and captain Marie-Philip Poulin is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

In response, the team signed defender Tamara Giaquinto to a standard player agreement and blueliner Kelly-Ann Nadeau to a 10-day contract ahead of Thursday night’s game against the New York Sirens.

Poulin suffered a knee injury when she was hit by Czech forward Kristyna Kaltounkova in their preliminary round game during the 2026 Winter Olympics. The ailment knocked Captain Canada out for Canada’s final two group-stage games, though she returned for the knockout round, breaking the all-time women’s Olympic goal-scoring record while helping her team reach the gold medal game. Poulin was named the tournament’s top forward.

In that final against the United States, Ambrose was hurt when she was hit in the third period by U.S. forward Britta Curl-Salemme. Curl-Salemme was given a minor-penalty for boarding while Ambrose exited the game. Team USA ended up pulling out the win in overtime.

With Ambrose’s placement on LTIR being retroactive to Feb. 19, she won’t be eligible to return to the lineup until March 15, when the Victoire hosts the Boston Fleet.

With the Victoire, Poulin leads the team with seven goals and 14 points in 15 games, currently tied for sixth in the PWHL in goals and points. Ambrose has four assists in 14 contests.

Giaquinto made her PWHL debut on Jan. 4 against the Minnesota Frost, while Ambrose was out with another injury. She registered 6:32 of ice time in an overtime win. The former Boston University Terrier was taken by Montreal in the sixth round of the 2025 PWHL Draft. Nadeau has appeared in six games this year, last appearing on Dec. 23 against the Seattle Torrent. In 10 career games with the Victoire, the Quebec native has yet to register a point.

The Victoire (7-3-0-5) is third in the PWHL, three points back of the Fleet for first, and five ahead of the fifth-place Ottawa Charge.
