Vancouver Canucks News

Lankinen will start vs. Colorado on Tuesday.

The Canucks have lost two straight and are eager to return to the win column, but will be hard-pressed for a victory on Tuesday against a Colorado Avalanche team that has outscored their opposition 53-19 in their last 11 games (10-0-1). Kevin Lankinen will tend the twine on Tuesday, looking to improve an ugly 3.50 GAA and .881 SV% through 14 games this season (4-7-3). He played well in his most recent outing, saving 21 of 23 shots (.913 SV%) in a 2-1 overtime loss. The Canucks enter the contest as huge +287 road underdogs.

Patera has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL).

Nikita Tolopilo is away from Vancouver to tend to the birth of his child, resulting in Petera being recalled. The 26-year-old Patera has been recalled numerous times this month, but did not impress in his only NHL contest. He has a 2.89 GAA and .899 SV% in six games (2-2-1) with Abbotsford (AHL) this season.

Tolopilo will start in San Jose on Friday.

Tolopilo was solid in his season debut in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Anaheim Ducks, saving 37 of 41 shots (.902 SV%), and has earned himself another start on Friday against the San Jose Sharks. Tolopilo made his NHL debut last season, playing two games (1-1-0) with the Canucks and posting a 2.15 GAA and .885 SV%. He has a 3.35 GAA and .901 SV% in five games (1-3-1) with the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL).

Raty is expected to be a healthy scratch in San Jose on Friday.

Lukas Reichel will draw back into Vancouver's lineup on Friday, sending Raty to the sidelines as a healthy scratch. The 23-year-old Raty has been a regular for Vancouver this season, playing all but two games, and has six points (1G / 5A) in 22 games.

Lankinen has a chance to rejoin the Canucks from his personal leave on Saturday.

Lankinen has been Vancouver's de facto starting netminder with Thatcher Demko (lower body) sidelined, but he will not be an option for the team on their upcoming road trip. Demko is travelling with the team but it's unclear when he will be ready to return to the lineup. Assuming Demko is unable to return, the Canucks crease will belong to Jiri Patera and Nikita Tolopilo until Lankinen returns.

Tolopilo will start in Anaheim on Wednesday.

With Kevin Lankinen (personal) away from the team and Thatcher Demko (lower body) still sidelined, Tolopilo will draw into the Canucks' crease for his first start of the season on Wednesday against the Anaheim Ducks. Tolopilo made his NHL debut last season, playing two games (1-1-0) with the Canucks and posting a 2.15 GAA and .885 SV%. He has a 3.35 GAA and .901 SV% in five games (1-3-1) with the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL). The Canucks enter Wednesday's contest as +135 road underdogs against a Ducks team that is 8-2-0 at home this season.
