Matthews (lower body) is a game-time decision vs. New Jersey on Tuesday.

The Maple Leafs are nursing several key injuries and hope that Matthews will not be added to the growing list of absentees on Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils, as he enters the contest as a game-time decision. The 28-year-old Matthews, a two-time 100-point player, is having a highly publicized sluggish season, scoring 27 points (15G / 12A) through 33 games.

Hildeby will start vs. Detroit on Sunday.

On the tail end of a back-to-back, the Maple Leafs will turn to Hildeby on Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings. The 24-year-old Hildeby was excellent as Toronto’s de facto starting goalie while Joseph Woll was injured, posting a 1.05 GAA and a .958 SV% in six outings (3-1-2), but has struggled since, losing three straight (0-3-0) while posting a 4.70 GAA and .928 SV%.

Woll will start Saturday vs. the Senators.

Woll allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Maple Leafs' 6-3 win over the Penguins on Tuesday. Since returning to the Maple Leafs' crease in mid-December, Woll has gone 2-1-0 while stopping 81 of 89 shots (.910 SV%) in three games. Tonight he draws a tough matchup vs. The Senators, who have eon four of their last five games. Toronto are +116 home underdogs.

Woll will start vs. Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

The Maple Leafs' management hopes yesterday’s firing of assistant coach Marc Savard will spark the struggling team as they turn to Woll to tend the twine on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Disappointing season aside, the Maple Leafs have consistently received adequate netminding from Woll, who has a 2.46 GAA and .921 SV% in 10 games (5-4-1). Unfortunately for Woll, the Maple Leafs have the third-worst offense in the league since the beginning of December (2.22 GF/GP).

Tanev (undisclosed) will return to Toronto's lineup vs. Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Tanev has not played since November 1st, but will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Regularly one of the league's best shot blocked, Tanev will provide needed stability on a Maple Leafs' blueline that has been plagued with injuries.
