Toronto Maple Leafs News

Woll is in the starter's crease at Toronto's morning skate.

Woll had the night off in Toronto's previous game after starting three straight, but he will return to the crease on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. Despite losing two of his last three (1-1-1), Woll has been excellent lately, posting a 2.63 GAA and .924 SV%, a vast improvement over the ugly 5.13 GAA and .849 SV% he had in his first three games back from the Olympic break (0-3-0). The Maple Leafs enter Tuesday's contest as +123 home underdogs against an Islanders team that has lost three of its last six games (3-3-0).

Matthews suffered a Grade 3 MCL tear in Thursday's game against the Ducks and will miss the remainder of the regular season.

Matthews was involved in a knee on knee collision with Ducks Captain Radko Gudas and immediately left the game. Gudas was issued a five-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct on the play, and is currently awaiting a decision on any supplemental discipline. Matthews' injury caps what has been a nightmare season for the Maple Leafs. The team did not give any update regarding any potential surgery or timeline for the injury, only saying Matthews would be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks. Matthews' season comes to an abrupt end after 60 games played and career lows of 27 goals and 26 assists.

Matthews (lower-body) will not return to Thursday's game against the Ducks.

Matthews left the game in the second period after taking an ugly looking knee-on-knee hit from Ducks captain Radko Gudas. Gudas was assessed a five-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct on the play. We should get an update on Matthews' status ahead of the Maple Leafs game in Buffalo on Saturday.

Woll will start vs. Anaheim on Thursday.

The Maple Leafs have yet to win a game since returning from the Olympic break (0-6-2) and will hope for Woll to guide them back into the win column on Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks. The 27-year-old Woll has battled some adversity lately as well, but he was tremendous in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, saving 30 of 32 shots (.938 SV%). The Maple Leafs enter Thursday's contest as slight -109 home favourites against an Anaheim Ducks team that has scored four or more goals in three of their last four games (3-1-0).

Woll will start in Montreal on Tuesday.

The Maple Leafs have effectively played themselves out of playoff contention, losing seven straight since the Olympic break (0-5-2), and will need a heroic effort from Woll to return them to the victory column. That said, the 27-year-old Woll has been hard-pressed for strong performances lately as well, including allowing five goals on 23 shots (.783 SV%) in his most recent outing, a 6-2 loss to the New York Rangers. The Maple Leafs enter Tuesday's contest as +149 road underdogs against a Montreal Canadiens team that has scored four or more goals in five of its last six games (3-1-2).

Groulx is expected to make his Maple Leafs' debut on Tuesday in Montreal.

Groulx was a second-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. The 26-year-old forward has five points (1G / 4A) in 65 career NHL games, all with the Ducks. He has spent the entire 2025-26 season in the AHL, where he has 50 points (27G / 23A) in 54 games with the Toronto Marlies.
