Carlo registered one assist and a plus-1 rating in 11:50 TOI before leaving Monday's game in Colorado. Consider him questionable to play Tuesday in Arizona and expect Mason Lohrei to draw back into the lineup if Carlo is unavailable.
After ongoing contract negotiations, Nylander and the Maple Leafs have agreed to terms on an eight-year, $92 million contract extension ($11.5 AAV). The 27-year-old Nylander has steadily seen his production increase in the last three seasons, arguably being the Maple Leafs' most dynamic player at times, and is currently pacing for a career-best 120-point season. With Nylander locked up long-term, the Maple Leafs guarantee they will have Nylander and Auston Matthews on their roster through the end of the 2027-28 season, while John Tavares and Mitch Marner have contracts that expire at the end of 2024-25.
Benning has a five-month expected recovery ahead of him after undergoing successful hip surgery and, as a result, will miss the remainder of the season. Benning played 14 games for the Sharks this season, blocking 29 shots, scoring two points (0G / 2A), and averaging 18:29 time-on-ice.
Groulx will make his first appearance since December 17th as the Ducks deal with a mix of illnesses and injuries. He is yet to score a goal and has just one assist in 20 games this season.

With Ilya Samsonov clearing waivers and being assigned to Toronto (AHL) earlier this week, Dennis Hildeby has earned his first career NHL call-up from the Marlies. The 22-year-old was Toronto's 2022 fourth-round pick (122th overall) and had an impressive 7-5-3 record, .919 SV% and 2.20 GAA with the Marlies (AHL) in 2023-24 prior to his call up.
Johnson will sit on Friday as Cole Guttman enters the lineup in his place. Johnson has two goals and no assists in 23 games this season.
