St Louis Blues News

Jordan Binnington was the first goalie off the ice at St. Louis morning skate.

Binnington will likely start for the fifth consecutive game and look for his third-straight win on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the two games since Drew Bannister took over coaching duties for the Blues, Binnington has won both games, saving 52 of 57 shots (.912 SV%) in the process. The Blues are +151 road favourites against the Lightning despite defeating them 5-0 in their only other meeting, a 30-save shutout for Binnington, his only one of the season.

Pius Suter (lower body) will return Thursday vs. Florida.

Suter has been out of the lineup since November 12th with a lower body and will make his return on Thursday after missing 14 games. Before his injury, Suter had four points (4G / 0A) in 15 games, averaging 15:10 time-on-ice while playing primarily with Conor Garland and Dakota Joshua.

Jordan Binnington will start Thursday vs. Ottawa.

Binnington had a forgettable performance on Tuesday, allowing five goals on 31 shots (.839 SV%) but will look to redeem himself as the Blues' starting goalie on Thursday. Binnington's season has consisted of hot and cold stretches and is currently amid a cold streak, losing three straight contests (0-3-0), allowing 13 goals on 13 total shots (.874 SV%). The Blues are slight +107 home underdogs against an Ottawa Senators team that has won three of their last five outings, outscoring their opposition 17-10.

Jordan Binnington will start Tuesday vs. Detroit.

Binnington allowed three goals on 24 shots (.875 SV%) in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday and will return to the crease for the Blues on Tuesday. Binnington has now put together consecutive poor performances, allowing eight goals on his last 72 shots (.889 SV%) and seen his season GAA increase to 3.00 while still sporting a respectable .911 SV%. The Blues are -134 home favourites against a Detroit Red Wings team that lost 6-3 to the Dallas Stars last night and is without several key offensive players including Dylan Larkin (upper-body), J.T. Tyler Tucker will draw back into the Blues' lineup Friday vs. St. Louis.

Tucker will play for only the third time since November 7th and is expected to skate on the Blues third defensive pair with Scott Perunovich. In 10 games this season, the 23-year-old Tucker has two points (1G / 1A), 10 penalty minutes, 11 blocks, and 17 hits.

Joel Hofer will start Friday in Columbus.

Hofer will start for the first time since allowing four goals on 15 shots (.733 SV%) in an 8-3 loss to the Nashville Predators on November 24th but will have a favourable matchup against a Columbus Blue Jackets team that has lost three straight, including a 7-3 loss to the New York Islanders last night. Hofer has been inconsistent this season but mostly reliable when called upon, posting a 3.04 GAA and .901 SV% in nine games (5-4-0). The Blues are -141 road favourites on Friday night.

Joel Hofer
Philip Broberg has been loaned to Bakersfield (AHL).

With trade talks speculating as a result of Broberg being unable to make an impact with the Oilers, he has been loaned to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. Broberg, the eighth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, is averaging only 10:32 time-on-ice and has failed to record a point through 10 games this season. Benjamin Gleason has been recalled from Bakersfield to replace him in the Oilers lineup.
