Skinner's early results with the Penguins have not been promising, but he will return to the crease on Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes as he continues his search for his first win with his new team. The 27-year-old Skinner has an ugly 4.18 GAA and .831 SV% in three games with the Penguins (0-3-0). Pittsburgh has acquired Yegor Chinakhov from Columbus for Danton Heinen, a 2026 2nd round pick and a 2027 3rd round pick.

Chinakhov was drafted 21st overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, but had trouble establishing himself with the Blue Jackets and will hope a change of scenery in Pittsburgh can get him going. The 24-year-old forward has 77 points (37G / 40A) in 204 career NHL games.

Skinner will start vs. Edmonton on Tuesday.

Last week, the Penguins acquired Skinner in a trade from the Edmonton Oilers. After a delayed Visa process, he will make his Pittsburgh debut on Tuesday against his former team. The 27-year-old Skinner will be motivated to have a strong performance against the team that traded him, but it's unclear what the Penguins will get out of a goalie who has battled with consistency issues. Skinner had a 2.83 GAA and .891 SV% in 23 games with Edmonton this season (11-8-4), and was ironically moved after his most consistent stretch, posting a solid 2.15 GAA and .913 SV% in his last seven games (4-2-1). The Penguins enter Tuesday's contest as +123 home underdogs against an Oilers team coming off a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
