Zub left the Senators' previous game after just 19 shifts and 14:11 TOI due to an undisclosed injury and is now expected to be out for their game Saturday vs. Detroit. The 28-year-old has started off 2023-24 with a bang, picking up a goal, two assists, two SOG, four PIMs and a +3 plus/minus in four games so far this season.

Ullmark will start his second game of the season as the Bruins will attempt to start on a three-game winning streak when they face off against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Picking up where he left off with his Vezina-winning 2022-23 campaign, Ullmark saved 20 of 21 shots for a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in his season debut. The Bruins should be able to continue their hot start to the season as they are a -266 road favourite over the Sharks on Thursday.

Kaliyev will make his season debut after serving a four-game suspension issued to him during the preseason for a knee infraction against Chase De Leo of the Anaheim Ducks. The skilled right-winger is expected to line up on the Kings' third line with Trevor Moore and Phillip Danault. Last season, Kaliyev scored a career-high 28 points (13G / 15A) in 56 games while averaging only 11:41 time-on-ice.

After having Ville Husso tend the crease for the first two games, the Red Wings will turn to newcomer James Reimer for the third game of the season. Reimer spent last season on a very poor San Jose Sharks team, where he recorded a 3.48 GAA and .890 SV% in 43 games (12-21-8). Reimer is now in the 14th year of his NHL career and will hope to match his career average of 2.87 GAA and .911 SV% this season with the Red Wings. The Red Wings enter today's matchup as a -130 road favourite against a Blue Jackets team that will be without their starting goalie, Elvis Merzlinkins.

Spence was a healthy scratch in the Kings' season opener, but he will suit up for Saturday's game vs. the Hurricanes. It's unclear exactly who Jordan Spence will replace in the lineup, but expect it to be Andreas Englund. Spence spent most of last year in the AHL, where he had four goals and 41 assists (45 points) in 56 games with the Ontario Reign.

Spence was originally assigned to the minors to start the season but has been recalled from the Ontario Reign (AHL) ahead of the Kings' matchup Saturday vs. Carolina. The 22-year-old made headlines in the offseason after being the first Australian born NHL player to participate in a game located in Australia due to the preseason Global Series. In 2022-23 he appeared briefly for the Kings, picking up an assist and six SOG in six games played. He has officially changed his number from 53 to 21 for the 2023-24 campaign.

Ullmark is coming off a remarkable season that saw him win the Vezina Trophy and post an absurd 1.89 GAA and .938 SV% in 49 appearances (40-6-1). Like last season, the talented Swedish goaltender should see a near-split in the crease with counterpart Jeremy Swayman but at least for the Bruins' season opener, the nod goes to Ullmark. The Bruins, who allowed the fewest goals in the league last season, are facing a Blackhawks team that travelled from Pittsburgh last night after defeating the Penguins 4-2. Despite the Blackhawks having rookie phenom Connor Bedard in the lineup, the Bruins are still massive -310 home favourites.

Thomson has experienced a unique week on the waiver wire. After being originally placed on waivers last week by Ottawa, he now finds himself back with the Senators after being placed on waivers again by Anaheim. Thomson, the 19th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, played 56 games last season for the Belleville Senators (AHL), recording 33 points (7G / 26A) in 56 games.

Kaliyev landed a minor penalty and was not ejected for his knee infraction which hurt Anaheim's Chase De Leo but has been suspended for two preseason, and two regular season games after having a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety. The 22-year-old was expected to crack the Kings' roster after scoring 13 goals, 15 assists, 122 SOG, 12 PIMs and a -5 plus/minus in his second full NHL season in 2022-23.

Thomson was placed on waivers by Ottawa and claimed by Anaheim on Sunday. The 23-year-old defenseman was Ottawa's 2019 first-round draft pick (19th overall) and had played 18 NHL games in two seasons for the Senators, picking up five assists. Thomson spent the majority of 2022-23 with the Belleville Senators (AHL) and had seven goals, 26 assists, 28 PIMs and a -9 plus/minus through 56 games.

Jenik had seven goals, 16 assists, 50 PIMs and a +3 plus/minus with the Tucson Roadrunners in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with Arizona worth $775,000. The 23-year-old forward had appeared in 17 games for the Coyotes across the previous three seasons, picking up four goals and an assist. He was the Coyotes 2018 third-round Draft Pick (65th overall) and will be hoping to stick with the big club for a full season.

Sanderson enjoyed a very successful rookie season in 2022-23 as he finished his inaugural campaign with four goals, 28 assists, 132 SOG, 12 PIMs, and a -6 plus/minus through 77 games played and has signed an eight-year, $64.4 million ($8,050,000 AAV) contract extension. The 21-year-old defenseman was Ottawa's 2020 1st round-pick (5th overall) and is expected to take a massive leap forward in his sophomore campaign.

Pilon had 11 goals, 18 assists, 24 PIMs and a +6 plus/minus through 53 games with Hershey (AHL) in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000. The 25-year-old centre brings a goal and three games of NHL experience to the Senators after being a third-round pick (87th overall) in 2016 to Washington.

Shepard was 20-8-5 with a .916 SV% and 2.18 GAA with the Hershey Bears (AHL) and has signed a two-year, two-way contract extension worth $775,000. The 27-year-old goaltender has yet to make an NHL appearance in his career after being signed as an undrafted free-agent out of the University of Minnesota-Duluth (NCAA).

Zetterlund had six goals, 17 assists, 118 SOG, 14 PIMs and a -6 plus/minus through 67 games played with both New Jersey and San Jose and has signed a two-year contract extension worth $2.9 million ($1.45M AAV). The 23-year-old left-winger was acquired by San Jose at the trade deadline in the mega deal which saw Timo Meier head back to New Jersey.

Eller had 10 goals, 13 assists, 140 SOG, 46 PIMs and a +3 plus/minus through 84 games with both Washington and Colorado in 2022-23 and has signed a two-year contract worth $4.9 million ($2.45M AAV) with Pittsburgh. The 34-year-old veteran centre is only 46 games from reaching the 1000 NHL games mark and has collected 163 goals and 371 points across his 14 year career.

Reimer was 12-21-8 with a .890 SV% and 3.48 GAA with San Jose in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year contract worth $1.5 million with the Detroit Red Wings. The 35-year-old goaltender will join his fifth NHL team and brings a career 204-169-61 record, 2.87 GAA and .911 SV% to the Red Wings.

The Senators selected Pettersson in the third-round (No.72 overall) in the 2022 NHL Draft. The 19-year-old centre had one goal and one assist in 29 games with Rogle BK Angelholm (SHL) during the 2023 season. He also represented Sweden at the 2023 World Juniors, where he had two goals and two assists in seven games.
