Heineman was originally a second-round pick of the Panthers in 2020. He was traded to Calgary as part of the Sam Bennett trade and then traded to Montreal as a part of the Tyler Toffoli trade. The 20-year-old winger scored 11 goals with five assists (16 points) in 38 games with Leksands IF (SHL) this season.







It's unclear exactly what is ailing Pelech but head coach Barry Trotz has listed him as a game-time decision for Thursday's game vs. the Blue Jackets. Robin Salo was recalled from the AHL and could replace Pelech if he's unavailable.


Sorokin will not be available for Tuesday's game in Columbus, so Cory Schneider was recalled from the AHL to serve as Semyon Varlamov's backup. Sorokin is feeling better and will be re-evaluated ahead of Thursday's game.


Boqvist was a healthy scratch in Minnesota on Saturday but will replace Zach Werenski (upper-body) in the lineup on Tuesday. Boqvist has picked up 20 points (11G / 9A) in 41 games this season.

Sorokin suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday's loss and the Islanders recalled Cory Schneider on Monday, suggesting that Sorokin won't play in Columbus. Expect the Islanders to provide an update on Sorokin's status at some point on Tuesday.

Bear was not on the ice for Monday's morning skate and will not play against the Capitals. Bear, who is listed as day-to-day, will be replaced by Brendan Smith on the Hurricanes' third pair.
