The Devils are riding a three-game winning streak and enter Thursday's contest as significant -216 road favorites against a Blue Jackets squad desperate for a win amid a five-game losing skid.

Tatar was a surprise scratch on Thursday, with his absence not being announced prior to warmups. He has missed two games but will likely return to the lineup on Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues. The 34-year-old Tatar has nine points (3G / 6A) in 29 games this season.

Allen has not played since allowing three goals on 22 shots (.864 SV%) in a 4-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche last Sunday but appears to be nearing a return to the lineup. The Devils' net has been exclusively occupied by Jacob Markstrom since Allen's injury.

Isaac Poulter has served as Jacob Markstrom's backup in the past few games, with Jake Allen (upper body) sidelined, but Poulter has been sent down to Utica (AHL), swapping places with Daws. The 23-year-old Daws has some NHL experience, recording a 3.13 GAA and .894 SV% in 46 games (19-22-1), providing a more viable option between the pipes for the Devils if needed.



MacDermid will slot in for Tomas Tatar, who was a late scratch due to an undisclosed injury. MacDermid is yet to register a point in 12 games this season.
