Vancouver held Myers out of the lineup for several games as they anticipated trading the veteran blueliner, which came to fruition on Wednesday in a deal sending him to the Dallas Stars. The Texas-born defenseman averaged 20:13 time-on-ice, recording eight points (1G / 7A), 65 hits, and 91 blocks in 57 games with the Canucks this season. He is expected to make his Stars' debut on Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Stars addressed their pre-deadline need for a depth scorer, acquiring Michael Bunting from the Nashville Predators. Bunting has had success in his career playing alongside high-end talent, notably during his time with Toronto when he played with Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews, and could be poised for a top-line role in Dallas with Wyatt Johnston and Mikko Rantanen, who is currently out with a lower-body injury. The 30-year-old Bunting averaged 14:48 time-on-ice and scored 31 points (13G / 18A) in 61 games with Nashville this season. He is expected to make his team debut on Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Stars, second-overall in league standings, are riding a franchise-best 10-game winning streak and will turn to Oettinger to tend the twine on Friday in a showdown against their division rivals, the first-place Colorado Avalanche. The 27-year-old Oettinger was lightly tested in his most recent outing, saving 13 of 14 shots (.929 SV%) in a 6-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks. He has a 1.48 GAA and .927 SV% in two games since returning from the Olympic break (2-0-0). The Stars enter Friday's contest as slight +104 home underdogs against an Avalanche team that has outscored its opposition 12-4 during a three-game winning streak.

With Thursday's pre-deadline acquisition of Michael Bunting from the Nashville Predators, Dallas has sent Hyry to Texas (AHL) to open up a roster spot. The 24-year-old Hyry has spent most of the season in the AHL, where he has 17 points (7G / 10A) in 26 games.

Stars' Head Coach Glen Gulutzan suggested that if Myers is unable to play on Friday, he will certainly draw in on Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Hintz helped Finland capture a Bronze Medal at the Olympics, but has not played yet since the conclusion of the Olympic break, missing four consecutive games. He returned to practice for the first time on Thursday, but his status for Friday's game against the Colorado Avalanche remains uncertain. The 29-year-old Hintz has 44 points (15G / 29A) in 52 games this season and has seen his goal scoring decrease. Hintz has averaged 33 goals per 82 games over the past four seasons but is on pace for only 24 this season.

The Stars are riding a franchise-best nine-game winning streak and will turn to DeSmith in the tail end of a back-to-back, on Tuesday against the Calgary Flames. The 34-year-old DeSmith was solid in his previous outing, saving 18 of 19 shots (.947 SV%) in a 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken. He was excellent in a losing effort against the Flames earlier this season, saving 31 of 33 shots (.939 SV%) in a 3-2 shootout loss. The Stars enter Tuesday's contest as -128 road favourites against the Flames.

With a fan, the Stars can set a franchise record with a nine-game winning streak, and will turn to Oettinger to help them get there on Monday against the Vancouver Canucks. The 27-year-old Oettinger was excellent in his previous outing, saving 25 of 27 shots (.926 SV%) in a 3-2 overtime win over the Nashville Predators. That said, it was the first time in five games that he had allowed fewer than three goals. The Stars enter Monday's contest as sizable -198 road favourites against a struggling Canucks team on a five-game losing streak (0-3-2).

Rantanen did not play in Finland's Bronze Medal victory over Slovakia at the Olympics on Saturday due to a lower-body injury and will be out of the lineup indefinitely. It's unclear how serious Rantanen's ailment is, but Head Coach Glen Gulutzan said Rantanen will be back before the end of the season. The 29-year-old is having an outstanding first full season with the Stars, scoring 69 points (20G / 49A) in 54 games. Expect Matt Duchene to see increased deployment while Rantanen is sidelined.

Seguin has not played since suffering a torn ACL at the beginning of December, and the Stars are reportedly going through the process of ruling him out for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs to receive maximum cap relief before the trade deadline. The 33-year-old Seguin was off to a decent start to the 2025-26 season, scoring 17 points (7G / 10A) in 27 games, but, unfortunately, he has become familiar with seasons being cut short by injuries. Seguin missed 62 games due to injury in 2024-25.

Trade speculation has surrounded Myers, leading to him being held out of the lineup on Wednesday, but he will continue to travel with the team on their upcoming trip. The Canucks have three games before the trade deadline, and it is unclear whether he will be available for those games or still a member of the Canucks for all of them. Myers is currently in year two of a three-year contract that includes a full no-movement clause and carries an AAV of $3 million. It's worth noting that the no-movement clause transitions to a 12-team no-trade list on July 1st, 2026.
