Columbus Blue Jackets News

Mateychuk (undisclosed) will not travel on Columbus' road trip and is being further evaluated.

Mateychuk played a season-low 13:01 time-on-ice in the Blue Jackets' most recent game due to an undisclosed injury, and will likely be sidelined for at least the next four games on team's upcoming road trip. The 21-year-old Mateychuk was fitting in nicely on the Blue Jackets' top defensive pair alongside Zach Werenski, tallying five points (3G / 2A) in 12 games before his injury.

Garland (undisclosed) is not expected to travel with Vancouver on their road trip.

Garland left Tuesday's game vs. New York after a massive collision with Sam Carrick and did not return. Vancouver was unable to provide any updates after the game and will add their leading scorer to their already long list of injuries so far in 2025-26. The Canucks will hope it is only a minor injury after Garland started the year on fire with three goals, 11 points and 28 SOG in his first 11 games played.

Merzlikins will start vs. Toronto on Wednesday.

The Blue Jackets are on the second half of a back-to-back after beating Buffalo 4-3 on Tuesday and will continue their goal rotation as they turn back to Elvis Merlikins vs. Toronto on Wednesday. Wood (upper-body) will return to Columbus' lineup on Tuesday in Buffalo.

Wood suffered a scary injury in the Blue Jackets third game of the season, exiting early after an errant stick caught him directly in his eye. Despite the scary scene, Wood avoided a significant injury and will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres. Zach Aston-Reese will serve as a healthy scratch to accommodate Wood's return.

Greaves will start in Buffalo on Tuesday.

The Blue Jackets have had an up-and-down start to the season with a 4-4-0 record, but have benefited from some solid goaltending in the process. The 24-year-old Greaves has been unable to replicate the elite 1.91 GAA and .938 SV% he had in 11 games with the Blue Jackets last season (7-2-2), but has remained serviceable when called upon, posting a 2.79 GAA and .903 SV% in four games (1-3-0). The Blue Jackets enter Tuesday's contest as +107 road underdogs against a Sabres team that is clicking offensively, outscoring their opposition 25-17 in their last six games (4-1-1).

Zamula will draw back into Philadelphia's lineup vs. Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Adam Ginning will exit Philadelphia's lineup on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, serving as a healthy scratch to allow Zamula to re-enter the lineup. The 25-year-old Zamula has been in-and-out of the Flyers' lineup early in the 2025-26 season. He is averaging 14:03 time-on-ice, over two minutes less than his totals a year ago.

Gudbranson (lower-body) will return to Columbus' lineup on Friday vs. Washington.

Gudbranson has been sidelined for two weeks due to a lower-body injury but will return to the lineup on Friday against the Washington Capitals. The 33-year-old Gudbranson is in his 15th NHL season, his fourth with the Blue Jackets, and was set to be a lineup-regular this season after being limited to only 16 games in 2024-25 because of a shoulder injury.

Greaves will start vs. Washington on Friday.
