Frederik Andersen has been placed on the injured reserve (lower-body).

Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour announced Friday that starting goaltender Frederik Andersen will be placed on the injured reserve retroactive to November 6th. Andersen had struggled a bit this season after finishing fourth in Vezina Trophy voting in 2021-22, posting a .891 SV% and 2.72 GAA but a decent 5-3-0 record all the same.

Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour announced Thursday that starting goaltender Frederik Andersen will be out a little more than day-to-day but stopped short of saying week-to-week. Andersen had struggled a bit this season after finishing fourth in Vezina Trophy voting in 2021-22, posting a .891 SV% and 2.72 GAA but a decent 5-3-0 record all the same.

Pyotr Kochetkov will make his season debut Thursday as he starts vs. Edmonton.

Kochetkov will get his first NHL start of the season Thursday after posting a 2-2-1 record, along with a 3.00 GAA and .911 SV% with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. He draws the tough start of the Edmonton Oilers, who rank third in the NHL in goals per game (3.79) fueled in part by their 2nd ranked Powerplay which converts at a 32.7% rate.

Andersen stopped 18 of 20 shots (.900 SV%) to lead Carolina over Washington 3-2 in shootout his last time out. After finishing fourth in Vezina voting in 2021-22, he has struggled so far this season, posting a 4-2-0 record along with a .896 SV% and 2.64 GAA. He takes on the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday who is starting to find their footing, winning their last three games scoring four goals in each victory.

It was at the second time in three starts that Andersen has given up five goals and moved him to 3-2-0 with a 2.81 GAA and .896 SV% through five starts. On Monday, he'll take on a Capitals team that has won five of their last seven games while averaging 3.43 goals per game.

Andersen barely broke a sweat in his previous outing, stopping 14 of 16 shots (.875 SV%) on his way to a closer-than-planned 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. He has been his usual hard-to-beat self this season, picking up a 3-1-0 record to far along with a low 2.26 GAA and .913 SV%. He takes on the New York Islanders who are riding high after their 3-1 victory over the cross-state rival Rangers their last time out.

Tyson Jost will be scratched for the Wild Thursday

Jost will be a healthy scratch for the first time in 2022-23 after putting up one assist and six SOG in his first six games for the Wild to start the season. He has struggled defensively as shown by his -5 plus/minus rating prior to being sent to the press box.

He has enjoyed a strong season regardless of his last start, sporting a 2-1-0 record to go along with his .920 SV% and 2.35 GAA. The Hurricanes take on the injured Vancouver Canucks, who are the only team left in the NHL without a win in 2022-23.
