Legault appeared to suffer a laceration on his hand during a second-period scrum in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 22-year-old rookie defenseman left a trail of blood on the ice as he skated off to the dressing room. He has since undergone successful surgery to repair multiple torn extensor tendons on his right hand and will be sidelined for three to four months.

Gostisbehere (mid-body) is expected to return vs. Washington on Tuesday.

Gostisbehere has only played one game in the past three weeks, battling through injuries, but will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. The 32-year-old Gostisbehere has been impressive offensively when in the lineup this season, with seven points (1G / 6A) in six games. He is expected to return to his familiar spot on the team's top powerplay unit.

The Hurricanes have kept Brandon Bussi in their netminding rotation despite the return of Pyotr Kochetkov, alternating all three goalies over the past week. That said, Andersen will likely be between the pipes on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. The 36-year-old Andersen saved 21 of 24 shots (.875 SV%) in his most recent outing, a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild. He has a 2.97 GAA and .892 SV% in eight games this season (5-3-0). The Hurricanes enter Tuesday's contest as -157 home favorites against a Capitals team amid a two-game losing skid (0-2-0).

Primeau has struggled with the Maple Leafs this season, posting an ugly 4.30 GAA and .838 SV% in three games (2-1-0). He could be recalled by the Maple Leafs after playing a game with the Marlies on Friday, but his time with the NHL club is likely coming to an end, as Joseph Woll is nearing a return to the lineup.

Chatfield suffered an upper-body injury midway through the first period in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild and did not return to the game. The 29-year-old Chatfield is averaging a career-high 19:50 time-on-ice and has three points (0G / 3A) in 13 games this season.
