Lyon exited Saturday's game for the Red Wings in the second period after saving 14 of 15 shots (.933 SV%) with a lower-body injury. It was announced before Monday's game that he is week-to-week after he did not participate in practice on Monday. Ville Husso will likely see the majority of the action while Lyon is out, with James Reimer serving as the backup.

Jack Quinn (achilles) has a possibility to make his season debut Tuesday vs. Columbus.

Before the start of the season, Quinn was scheduled to return around Christmas and appears on course to do so as soon as Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets as he completes his recovery from Achilles surgery. Quinn had a solid rookie season, scoring 14 goals with 23 assists (37 points) in 75 games. At practice on Monday, he skated on a line with Tage Thompson and Zach Benson.

Levi has been excellent since returning from a brief stint in the AHL and will start for the fourth time in five games for the Sabres. In his last three games (2-0-1), Levi has only allowed five goals, showing the pedigree that made him a high-end prospect, posting a tremendous .942 SV%. The Sabres are +178 road underdogs in their first matchup of the season against the Vegas Golden Knights, who are riding a four-game winning streak, outscoring their opposition 22-12.

Lyon will start on Saturday against the team he made his NHL debut with, the Philadelphia Flyers, whom he played sparingly with between the 2017-18 and 2020-21 seasons. Lyon has undoubtedly been the Red Wings' best goaltender since making his debut with the team approximately one month ago but has not played the last three games. He is coming off his worst performance of the season, allowing four goals on 25 shots (.840 SV%) in a 5-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on December 9th, but still has an impressive 2.13 GAA and .931 SV% in six games this season (4-2-0).

Luukkonen has not played since Dec. 3rd due to an illness but was back in the starter's crease Wednesday at Buffalo's morning skate. The 24-year-old has taken over the starting job for the Sabres due to his strong 6-5-1 start to go along with his 2.81 GAA and .907 SV%. He will head to Colorado to take on the Avalanche, who won their last game in a thrilling 6-5 victory and are fourth in the NHL in goals peer game (3.54).

Tanner Pearson (upper body) was placed on the Injured Reserve and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Pearson left the Canadiens game Saturday vs. Buffalo after just 2:50 TOI due to an upper-body injury and was placed on the Injured Reserve Wednesday with expectations to be out for 4-6 weeks. The 31-year-old left-winger had been attempting to put together his first full season since 2017-18 after just 14 games last year. He had four goals, four assists, 47 SOG, 13 PIMs and a -5 plus/minus in 27 games prior to his injury.

Tuch has missed the Sabres' last four games due to a lower-body injury but will make a welcome return Wednesday vs. Colorado. The 27-year-old towering winger is off to yet another productive start this season with eight goals, nine assists, 59 SOG, 26 PIMs and a -4 plus/minus through 22 games prior to his injury.

Mattias Samuelsson (undisclosed) took part in morning skate and will return Wednesday vs. Colorado.

Samuelsso missed the Sabres' previous game due to an undisclosed injury but took full part in morning skate Wednesday and will play in Colorado. The 23-year-old shut down defensemen has done his role well yet again in 2023-24, with a goal, two assists, 25 SOG, 16 PIMs and a -2 plus/minus in 25 games prior to his injury.

Samuelsson left the morning skate on Monday feeling "sore" and did not play Monday vs. Arizona and is now considered day-to-day with his undisclosed injury. Samuelsson has primarily skated as Rasmus Dahlin's defensive partner this season and has three points (1G / 2A) in 25 games, averaging 20:12 time-on-ice. Ryan Johnson will draw into the lineup in his place.

Alex Tuch (lower body) is expected to rejoin the Sabres' lineup on their upcoming road trip.

Tuch participated in practice as an extra skater on Monday and is likely to return before the end of their upcoming three-game road trip that beings on Wednesday. Tuch last played on December 3rd and had six points (3G / 3A) in his last six games. Assuming he does not play on Monday against the Arizona Coyotes, his next opportunity to return will be Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche.
