Luukkonen will start vs. St. Louis on Thursday.

Luukkonen has started two of Buffalo's last five games since making his season debut, returning from an off-season lower-body injury. The 26-year-old Luukkonen played well in his most recent outing to secure his first victory, saving 31 of 34 shots (.912 SV%) in a 4-3 shootout win over the Washington Capitals. He has a 3.34 GAA and .877 SV% in two games this season (2-0-1). Luukkonen returns to the crease on Thursday, facing a St. Louis Blues team playing the tail end of a back-to-back.

Zucker is battling an illness and has been placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to November 1st. He will miss at least two games before he is eligible to return to the lineup. Ostlund was drafted 16th-oveall by the Sabres in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft but has yet to establish himself as a full-time presence in the NHL. The 21-year-old forward spent most of the 2024-25 season in the AHL, where he scored 36 points (19G / 17A) in 45 games with the Rochester Americans.

Metsa appeared in four games since his call-up on October 20th but failed to pick up a point and has been loaned back to Rochester (AHL) on Monday. The 27-year-old undrafted defensemen made his NHL debut this season and will likely be Buffalo's first call up should they have anyone out of the lineup. Metsa going down is a good indication Michael Kesselring is ready for his season debut on Tuesday.
