Hyman missed the first 19 games of the season but will play Wednesday vs. the Islanders. Hyman's return comes at a great time, as he'll slide in for Mitch Marner, who is out with a high-ankle sprain. Hyman likely won't have the same success with Marner out, but he'll still be with John Tavares on Wednesday. The 27-year-old set career-highs in goals (21) and points (41) in 71 games last year.

Hyman was given a five-minute interference penalty on the play and was forced to answer the bell against Matt Grzelcyk. Hyman was not on the ice for Monday’s practice session, but he is expected to return to his spot on the Maple Leafs’ top line on Tuesday. Hyman has scored goals in back-to-back games.

Hyman, 22, is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, but is expected to get a deal done with the Maple Leafs. Hyman is a Toronto native and was a Hobey Baker finalist in the NCAA after scored 22 goals with 32 assists (54 points) in 37 games at the University of Michigan.
