The Rangers added Ryan Lindgren to the COVID-19 protocol list on Sunday (Dec.26).

With Lindgren entering protocol on Sunday and Jarred Tinordi entering on Monday, the Rangers are left with just six healthy defensemen as they get ready to start a three-game week. Based on protocol rules, expect Lindgren to miss at least four games.

The Rangers have signed Ryan Lindgren to a three-year contract extension worth $9.0 million ($3.0M AAV).

Lindgren was set to become an RFA this summer but the Rangers were quick to get him signed to a three-year contract extension. Lindgren spent most of the season on the top pairing with Adam Fox and finished the year with 16 points (1G / 15A) in 51 games.

Lindgren (upper-body) will play Thursday vs. the Devils.

Lindgren was hurt in a fight with Nazem Kadri after hitting Joonas Donskoi and did not return to Tuesday's game. He was originally expected to face supplemental discipline but then the NHL Department of Player Safety changed their mind, making him eligible to play on Thursday. He has no points in his last seven games.
