The 22-year-old defensemen has taken a step forward offensively this season, with three goals, 12 assists, 44 SOG, 15 PIMs and a +7 plus/minus prior to missing Tuesday's game.

Sandin (knee/COVID-19) will return to the Maple Leafs lineup on Saturday.

Sandin has not played since December 5th due to a knee injury but was also placed on the COVID-19 protocol list during that time. Sandin will be back on the Maple Leafs blueline and second power-play unit vs. the Senators and has eight assists and a plus-5 rating in 25 games this season.

Sandin left Saturday's game vs. the Jets after a knee-on-knee collision with Neal Pionk. The Jets' defenseman was suspended for two games for the play but it looks like Sandin could miss an extended period of time. The Maple Leafs recalled Alex Biega and Kristiāns Rubīns from the AHL to help replace Sandin.
