Matt Duchene has been placed on unconditional waivers with purpose of a buyout.

Duchene had 22 goals, 34 assists, 168 SOG, 32 PIMs and a +4 plus/minus through 71 games with Nashville in 2022-23 but has been placed on unconditional waivers with the purpose of a buyout Friday. The 32-year-old centre has been one of the Predators' best players for years, but was expected to carry a $8 million cap hit into 2023-24 for three more season and will therefore only cost the Predators $2.56 million next season. The veteran is just 24 games from reaching the 1000 game plateau, having picked up 316 goals and 744 points across his 14 year career.

Duchene (upper-body) will return to the Predators lineup on Wednesday.

Duchene missed the last four games with an upper-body injury but is set to play Wednesday in Washington. Duchene will likely play on the top line with Mikael Granlund and Filip Forsberg and comes in with 25 points (13G / 12A) in 26 games this season.

Duchene (lower-body) will return to the Predators lineup on Saturday.

Duchene has been sidelined by a lower-body injury since March 4th but is set to return to the lineup on Saturday. It's unclear where Duchene will slot back into the lineup but he comes back in with just three goals and five assists (eight points) in 23 games.

Duchene will miss 3-5 weeks with a lower-body injury and has been placed on IR.

Duchene left Thursday's game prematurely and the Predators announced that he'll miss at least three weeks with a lower-body injury. With Duchene out, Ryan Johansen will move into the Predators' top-6 on Saturday.

Duchene (lower-body) is expected to play Saturday in Tampa Bay.

Duchene was forced to leave Thursday's game vs. the Wild with a lower-body injury and did not return. However, he was on the ice for the Predators morning skate and is expected to play in Tampa Bay. Duchene has 11 points (2G / 9A) in 10 games this season.

The Blue Jackets have acquired Matt Duchene and Julius Bergman from the Senators for Vitali Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson, a 2019 first-round pick and a conditional 2020 first-round pick.

Duchene is expected to walk across the hall and make his Blue Jackets debut tonight in Ottawa. It remains to be seen where Duchene will slot into the lineup, but the second line seems like the most reasonable spot. Despite playing for a mostly poor Senators team, Duchene is on-pace to set a new career-high in goals (39) and points (84). The 2019 first-round pick is lottery protected and the Senators will only receive the 2020 pick if Duchene re-signs in Columbus.

Matt Duchene
Duchene (personal) is expected to return to the Senators lineup on Wednesday.

Duchene missed the last three games to be with his wife for the birth of their baby but is ready to play Wednesday vs. his former team. Duchene is expected to skate with Bobby Ryan and Ryan Dzingel and enters play with 18 goals and 24 assists (42 points) in 37 games.

Matt Duchene
Duchene (personal) did not travel on the Senators three-game road trip.

Duchene and his wife are awaiting the arrival of their first child, so Duchene stayed home and is expected to miss all three games on their California road trip. Darren Archibald was called up to serve as the extra forward with Duchene out.
