Kaapo Kakko (lower body) has been placed on the long-term injured reserve.

Kakko was placed on long-term injured reserve after falling awkwardly into the end boards in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. Kakko spent most of this season playing on an offensive line with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider but was never able to find his scoring touch, tallying only three points (2G / 1A) and 23 shots in 20 games.

Kakko (lower-body) will not return to Monday's game against the Sabres.

Kakko exited the game in the second period after crashing awkwardly into the boards and will not return. It's a tough break in what was already a disappointing season for the 2019 second-overall pick. Kakko has registered just two goals, one assist, and 23 shots on goal in 20 games this season.

Kakko is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Kakko fell awkwardly during Saturday's win over the Red Wings on Saturday and is expected to miss an extended period of time. Kakko is listed as week-to-week, suggesting he could miss the rest of the regular season. With Kakko out, Barclay Goodrow moved up to the Rangers' third line in Monday's practice.

Kakko (upper-body) is expected to return to the Rangers lineup on Friday.

Kakko has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury but is expected to play Friday vs. the Blue Jackets. When asked after Thursday's practice, Kakko said "I'm ready to play." He'll skate on the second line with Ryan Strome and Artemi Panarin.

Kakko (COVID-19) is expected to play on Thursday.

A couple of days after being added to the COVID-19 protocol list, Kakko was on the ice for practice on Wednesday and is expected to play on Thursday. This suggests that Kakko had a false positive test, which is great news for the Rangers, who are already without Filip Chytil and Colin Blackwell. Kakko skated on a line with Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome in Wednesday's practice.
