James Reimer News

James Reimer's return appears no closer to fruition as the Leafs' crease continues to wobble in his absence. Ron Wilson was forced to hook his starter for the second consecutive game on Tuesday as the Leafs dropped a 5-1 decision to the Panthers, the first time they've lost two games in a row all season – they were thumped 7-0 by the Bruins on Saturday.

Reimer remains no closer to returning to his concussion as he remains sidelined indefinitely. His statistics -- 2.58 GAA and .912 SV% -- are much better than those of his successors. Look for the Leafs to make a move should Optimus Reim remained sidelined.

Behind his out-of-nowhere emergence as the Maple Leafs’ No. 1 goalie were years of mind-busting customized Matrix-like workouts for goaltending reflexes — the result of a chance meeting, really — at a fitness centre in Maple Ridge, B.C.

Reimer's work ethic should alleviate some concerns over his long-term value. Last season the 23-year-old won 20 of his 37 games played while finishing the season with a .921 SV%. Expect a slight drop off in his play but possibly not as bad as expected.
