James Reimer News

Reimer allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Hurricanes win over the Stars on Sunday. With Petr Mrazek out for an extended period of time, the Hurricanes will rely heavily on Reimer moving forward. He has stopped 67 of 73 shots (.918 SV%) in hie first three appearances of 2021.

Reimer served as Petr Mrazek’s backup for the first two games of the season but will start Monday in Nashville. Reimer was solid in that role in 2020, going 14-6-2 with a 2.66 GAA, .914 SV% and three shutouts. That included a really strong 10-4-0, 2.71 GAA, .914 SV% and two shutouts on the road.

Petr Mrazek started and won the first two games of the series but with Game 3 coming on the tail-end of a back-to-back, Reimer will start tonight. He started 24 games in the regular season, going 14-6-2 with a 2.66 GAA and .914 SV%. He has made seven career playoff starts, but the last one was in 2013. He was 3-4 with a 2.87 GAA and .923 SV% in that series.

Reimer left Saturday's game with a lower-body injury and did not return. He was replaced by Petr Mrazek, who also got hurt. That left the Hurricanes to turn to 42-year-old Zamboni driver David Ayres for the final period and a half. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour told reporters postgame that Reimer will be out a while, so look for Alex Nedeljkovic to be recalled from Charlotte (AHL).

Reimer allowed three goals on 35 shots in the Hurricanes win over the Canucks on Sunday. Reimer has been great since the start of January, going 4-0-1 with a 1.91 GAA, .938 SV% and one shutout inn his last five starts. He'll look to stay hot vs. a Coyotes team that has lost five of their last six (1-4-1) while scoring just 2.17 goals per game.

Reimer allowed four goals on 21 shots but walked away with the win on Tuesday. Reimer has allowed at least three goals in three straight, posting a 5.76 GAA and .769 SV% in the process. It hasn't been pretty and Reimer has rarely stated on home ice, with Saturday's game marking just his fourth of the season. He is 1-2-0 with a 3.72 GAA and .864 SV% in the first three.

Reimer allowed five goals on 24 shots in the Hurricanes loss in New York on December 27th. After getting hot for most of December, Reimer has struggled in his last two outings, allowing a combined eight goals on just 31 shots (.742 SV%). He'll face a Flyers team that has had a tough time on the road but it's just the third time Reimer has started on home-ice; he is 0-2-0 with an .883 SV% in the first two.

Reimer was pulled after allowing three goals on seven shots in the Hurricanes 8-6 loss in Toronto on Monday afternoon. It was Reimer's first tough outing since early-November, but the Hurricanes will give him a chance to bounce back right after the Christmas break. He is 8-3-0 with a 2.33 GAA and .927 SV% on the road this year.
