Pelletier exited Tuesday's game against the New York Rangers early in the first period with an upper-body injury after playing only 54 seconds. The Flames recalled Cole Schwindt from the Calgary Wranglers (AHL), indicating that Pelletier will likely be unavailable for the Flames' Thursday night matchup against the San Jose Sharks.

Pelletier has 16 goals, 20 assists, a +4 plus/minus and 22 PIMs through 33 games with the Calgary Wranglers (AHL) but earned his second call-up of the season Monday. He failed to pick up any points in his previous four-game NHL appearance earlier this season.

The Flames do not play again until after the All-Star break, so they sent a trio of young players, including Pelletier, back to the AHL.

Pelletier has had an excellent AHL season to date, scoring 15 goals with 19 assists (34 points) in 31 games. The 2019 No.26 overall pick has been terrific as a 21-year-old, second-year pro and could make his NHL debut on Sunday.

Pelletier was picked with the No.26 overall pick in this summer’s NHL Entry Draft after scoring 39 goals with 50 assists (89 points) with the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL). He was assigned to Moncton earlier today.
