The 27-year-old defensemen returns to the Hurricane's where he spent one incredibly productive season in 2021-22 (10G/51Pts in 64 GP). In the last two seasons, DeAngelo is 27th among defensemen in points (93 in 134 GP) across the entire NHL making this a very well priced signing for the Hurricanes.

With DeAngelo entering the NHL's COVID-19 protocol, his status for Tuesday's game is up in the air. DeAngelo could test out of protocol and join the team in Dallas, but for now, consider him doubtful.

DeAngelo's future with the Rangers ended after a reported physical altercation with Alexandar Georgiev in January. He was officially bought out on Saturday and will save the Rangers $4.4M in 2021-22 but cost them $883K in 2022-23.
