Blues match NHL record for most successful challenges in one game

The St. Louis Blues had three successful coach’s challenges during their game against the Calgary Flames Wednesday night, tying the NHL record for the most in a single game.
St. Louis head coach Jim Montgomery and the Blues coaching staff challenged three Flames goals through the first half of the game, all of which were overturned.

The Flames won the game 2-1 in a shootout.
The first time a team won three challenges was in March 2023 when the San Jose Sharks did it against the Edmonton Oilers.
The New Jersey Devils once had three goals called off against the Toronto Maple Leafs in November 2022, but each of them were originally ruled “no goal.”

After Wednesday’s game, the Blues are now 27-30-11 with 65 points, seventh in the Central Division and six points back of a Wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
Robert Thomas leads the team in all offensive categories with 16 goals, 29 assists for 45 points. Defenseman Philip Broberg leads all blueliners with 23 points (four goals and 19 assists) while averaging a team-leading 23:25 of ice time per game.
Meanwhile, the Flames are 27-34-7 with 61 points, seventh in the Pacific Division and 10 points back of a Wildcard spot.
Blake Coleman leads the team with 16 goals, while Mikael Backlund leads in assists and points with 23 and 38, respectively. Kevin Bahl leads in ice time with 22:08 per game.
