St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong voiced his displeasure Friday with leaked reports of a proposed trade between his team and the Buffalo Sabres that centered around defenseman Colton Parayko.

“It’s unfortunate, and I’m not talking about Colton alone, any time there’s a trade leak, I find it very disappointing. For the people that know me, we run a pretty tight ship as far as communication coming in and out,” Armstrong told reporters after the 3 p.m. ET deadline passed.

“We did some due diligence as soon as that happened. We checked the phone records of all of our staff, texts and emails and everybody passed the test, not surprisingly,” he added. “I was disappointed it got out. I know it didn’t come from us.”

It was reported earlier this week that Parayko was headed to the Sabres, but Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman shared that the defenseman invoked his no-movement clause, choosing to remain with the Blues.

Parayko, 32, has a goal and 13 assists for 14 points in 58 games this season. He is currently third on the Blues in ice time, averaging more than 22 minutes per game.

The 6-foot-6 blueliner is in the fourth year of an eight-year, $52-million deal.
