Charge’s Rebecca Leslie fined for boarding

Ottawa Charge forward Rebecca Leslie was hit with a $500 fine on Tuesday, with the PWHL announcing that its Player Safety Committee had ruled on an incident in Sunday’s game against the Montréal Victoire.
The committee reviewed Leslie’s minor penalty for boarding at the 17:16 mark of the third period of the contest, and determined that Leslie pushed the Victoir’s Amanda Boulier into the boards while in a vulnerable position.
The Charge went on to win the game 2-1 in overtime, with Leslie scoring the game-winning marker after Gabbie Hughes and Nicole Gosling scored for their respective teams in the second period.
For Leslie, Tuesday’s ruling marks the second time that she has been assessed a fine through 73 career PWHL games. In 2024, as a member of the inaugural season’s PWHL Toronto, she was levied a fine of $250 for grabbing the facemask of an opposing player.
All fines collected by the PWHL go on to supporters’ girls’ hockey programming and equipment access initiatives, although the exact details of the program’s beneficiaries are unclear.
Having secured two points in the overtime victory against Montréal, the Charge sat in fifth in the league standings as of Tuesday night, with 30 points through 22 games, only a single point behind the Toronto Sceptres, who currently hold the final spot in the 2026 Walter Cup Playoffs.
The chase towards the postseason continues for Ottawa, but the team will have some time to build up to their next critical matchup, with the upcoming game not until March 29 on the road against the Seattle Torrent at Climate Pledge Arena.
Leslie sits tied for the league lead in goals with 12 and ranks fourth among all players in point production, sitting just three points behind the league leaders, the Minnesota Frost’s Kelly Pannek, Britta Curl-Salemme and Taylor Heise.
