Flyers trade Ivan Fedotov to Blue Jackets for draft pick
The Philadelphia Flyers are trading goaltender Ivan Fedotov to the Columbus Blue Jackets, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and The Athletic’s Kevin Kurz.

The Blue Jackets are sending back a 2026 sixth-round pick. Columbus will retain all of Fedotov’s $3.275 cap hit, but is owed just $775,000 in actual salary.

In 2024-25, Fedotov, a seventh-round pick for the Flyers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, appeared in 26 regular-season games, going 6-13-4 with a 3.15 goals against average (GAA) and .880 save percentage (SV%). Across three seasons, all with Philadelphia, the Russian netminder is 6-14-5 with an .874 SV% and 3.29 GAA.
Before joining the NHL, Fedotov, who was born in Lappeenranta, Finland but grew up in Russia, spent eight seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with CSKA Moscow, Chelyabinsk Traktor, Ufa Salivate Yulayev and Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik, posting a 61-55-8 record with a .921 SV% and 2.22 GAA in 133 games.
In 2022, he went 16-6 in 22 KHL playoff games, posting a .937 SV% and 1.85 GAA, leading CSKA to a Gagarin Cup. He was a finalist for the KHL’s top goalie.
He also spent parts of five seasons in the All-Russian Hockey League (VHL), the nation’s second-highest level of hockey, going 28-17-9 with a .916 SV% and 2.04 GAA in 62 games with Chelyabinsk Chelmet and Neftekamsk Toros.
The Flyers went 33-39-10 with 76 points, last in both the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference. As for the Blue Jackets, the team went 40-33-9 with 89 points, fourth in the Metropolitan Division. They were two points shy of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
