Jets’ Nino Niederreiter out week-to-week, placed on injured reserve

The Winnipeg Jets announced Friday that they have placed forward Nino Niederreiter on injured reserve, retroactive to February 18.
Niederreiter, 33, has eight goals and 19 points in 55 games with the Jets this season. The 6’2″ winger is under contract with the Jets through the 2026-27 season at a $4 million annual cap hit.
Addressing reporters in Winnipeg earlier this week, Jets head coach Scott Arniel said that Niederreiter is considered “week-to-week” with an undisclosed injury. The veteran forward most recently represented his native Switzerland at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, scoring one goal in five games.
Also on Friday, the Jets assigned goaltender Domenic DiVincentiis to their top minor-league affiliate, the Manitoba Moose.

Niederreiter is currently in his fourth season with the Jets, having originally been acquired from the Nashville Predators ahead of the 2023 trade deadline in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
The Jets have made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons since Niederreiter arrived. He collected four goals and six points in 13 games during the 2025 postseason.
A first-round pick (No. 5 overall) of the New York Islanders in the 2010 NHL Draft, Niederreiter played sparingly with his draft club to begin his North American professional career before being traded to the Minnesota Wild in 2013. With the Wild, Niederreiter blossomed into a second-line scoring winger, reaching the 20-goal mark in three consecutive seasons between 2014 and 2017.
After parts of six seasons in Minnesota, Niederreiter joined the Carolina Hurricanes midway through the 2018-19 season and played a key secondary role on the ascendant Eastern Conference contender until 2022, when he signed with the Predators as an unrestricted free agent.
In 1,024 career NHL games over his tenures with the Islanders, Wild, Hurricanes, Predators, and Jets, Niederreiter has collected 248 goals and 499 points. He’s added 20 goals and 42 points in 105 playoff contests.
