NHL DFS Picks for December 5, 2025: Top Stacks, Best Value Plays & Goalie Targets

Friday, December 5th NHL slate. Let’s make some educated guesses for tonight and get to it.
Top Stack of the Day
Dallas Power Play 1 (Johnston 7.0k DK, Hintz 6.0k DK, Rantanen 8.0k DK, Robertson 9.0k DK, Heiskanen 6.0k DK)
Is this spot obvious? Yes it is obvious. Is it expensive? Oh you better believe it, this is one of the most expensive assemblages of skaters I can remember, especially for a short slate. Is it still amazing? Yes it is. Dallas 1 alone has easily the highest projection of the night and they are actually cheaper than WPG1 since you get Benn salary savings (not on PP1) so there are a lot of different ways to go here for DAL exposure. DAL2 which includes the Rantanen/Johnston duo also has salary relief with Sam Steel. Also remember, if things hit the fan and DAL is down a goal or two late, they mix up lines as much or more than any other team in the league and will send out pseudo-power play stacks out there 5×5. As proven by Wednesday, San Jose can definitely be scored upon. Give me Dallas in an excellent spot.
Top Value Stack of the Day
Vancouver Canucks 2 (Boeser 4.2k DK, Sasson 2.5k DK, Garland 4.9k DK) $11,600
This distinction today could go so many different directions, which I will cover in individual pieces of below. WSH2 is far too cheap, as is VGK1, and the same can even be said for UTA1 tonight. Why, however, is VAN2 11,600 total on DK? Does Utah have a good defense, sure, however this is a 6.5 total game with the Canucks as slight home dogs and you get to play an entire line with top power play exposure for under $12,000? Sign me up.
TOP C Value
Connor McMichael, Washington Capitals (4.3k DK)
This one is easy, McMicahel gets bumped to WSH 2 tonight and gets to skate with two excellent wings in Protas and Wilson (if you haven’t watched it yet, go watch what Protas did last night on the SHG, absolutely filthy.) He should also be in line for slightly more TOI tonight on the tail end of a B2B.
Top W Value
Braeden Bowman, Vegas Golden Knights (3.3k DK)
I’m not in charge of DK pricing, but I did interview for that exact same role as a recent college graduate back in 2015. It was over ten years ago, but I think their exact quote was “we will start you off with making hockey salaries, because it is easier and if you screw up, it won’t be as big of a deal as football or basketball.” Never change DK, never change. Somebody forgot to tell the intern or the new hire that Bowman has been playing with the 1’s now for Vegas since mid-November and last I checked it was December 5th. He is simply to cheap to ignore and should be $1000+ more expensive.
Top D Value
Bowen Byram, Buffalo Sabres (2.9k DK)
The easy cop-out for cheap D-value today is Radko Gudas or Mattias Samuelsson, guys who are obviously being priced by the same intern I referenced in the prior paragraph. Neither of them have had ceiling games recently, but they are both cash game locks as they have had absolutely spectacular floors. Now, if we want a ceiling guy, let’s look to Byram. He’s been getting decent TOI numbers and quarterbacks PP2 for Buffalo. The Hellebuyck-less Jets haven’t exactly been world-beaters later, so I like this spot.
Top G Value
Jake Oettinger, Dallas Stars (8.4k DK)
Two important caveats here. First, no goalies, outside of Markstromhave been confirmed so far today at the time of writing early this morning, so be sure to check the starting goalie page as we get closer to lock.
Second, and more importantly, you will be asking yourself: Morgan, I want a value Goalie. Oettinger is the most expensive on the slate, and aren’t the Sharks good on offense? Let’s answer those complaints: 1) Sharks aren’t good on offense, they are the luckiest wagon on earth if you’ve been following Zach and Brock and their DFO reports and slate shows. 2) Value is relative and Jake’s projection is so high versus the other goalies tonight, he actually is value, even as the most expensive guy.
