While Fink has already spent time in the professional ranks, having signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Predators’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, shortly after he and the Penn State Nittany Lions were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament last month.
The 21-year-old has already made a significant impact with the Admirals. In six games, he has scored three goals and seven assists for 10 points, helping the team secure a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs.
With the ELC in effect for the remainder of this season, Fink could make his debut with the Preds soon. Including Monday night’s clash with the San Jose Sharks, Nashville has just two games left in the regular season, with its season finale coming on Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks. On top of possibly playing a number of games in the postseason in Milwaukee, there’s a possibility Fink might jump into the lineup for what could be a do-or-die game for the Predators. Smashville sits one point back of the Los Angeles Kings for the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, though the Kings have a game in hand.
Fink stepped into the pro ranks after an exceptional collegiate career. He was an efficient scorer in his three seasons at Penn State, helping lead the team to a pair of appearances. In 2024-25, he set career highs in goals (23), assists (30) and points (53), finishing fourth in the NCAA in scoring. He was a key part in helping the Nittany Lions reach the men’s Frozen Four for the first time.
This season, the Calgary native missed several games due to injury, but still managed to score 10 goals and 38 points in 30 games.
Fink was taken by the Predators in the seventh round, 218th overall, of the 2023 NHL Draft.
