Stars sign college UFA Jack Anderson to entry-level contract

The Dallas Stars have signed defenseman Jack Anderson to a two-year, entry-level contract starting in 2026-27. Anderson will finish the season with the AHL’s Texas Stars on an amateur tryout contract.
The St. Louis, Missouri native just completed his fourth year of NCAA hockey, spending one year at Michigan Tech. The 6-foot-6 defender had a breakout campaign, scoring 11 goals and 24 points in 39 games. He had just four goals and 25 points in his three years at Lindewood University, where he was used more as a shutdown defender.
Anderson was named the CCHA Defensive Defenseman of the Year, while also earning All-CCHA First Team honors. Off the ice, he found himself on the CCHA All-Academic Team.
The 23-year-old’s rise in offense – while playing over 25 minutes a night most games – quickly put him on the radar of NHL teams. Anderson has a huge frame and is fully capable of taking on anyone physically. But adding that scoring touch, while showing a lot more confidence with the puck in general, made him an intriguing prospect.
Anderson was never drafted to the NHL, despite proving himself physically dominant with the NAHL’s El Paso Rhinos. He was a bit of a slow riser, having spent most of his junior-aged career playing U-18 with the CarShield program in St. Louis.
While Anderson is a long shot to become an NHLer, he will give Texas some extra defensive depth – and the size doesn’t hurt, either. Anderson is the team’s lone college signing of the season so far, but is one of a handful of minor-league blueliners already signed for 2026-27, according to PuckPedia.
