The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they’ve signed center Cole Knuble to a two-year, entry-level contract.

The contract is set to begin in the 2026-27 season, meaning he will be eligible to play in the NHL that season. For now, he’ll be assigned to the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

The salary of Knuble’s deal has yet to be disclosed. Since it’s an entry-level contract, the total will fall under $1.025 million a season, which is the maximum compensation for entry-level contracts in the 2026-27 season.

Knuble was a 2023 fourth-round draft pick for the Flyers out of the USHL, and he opted to play in college for three seasons after that with Notre Dame. He finished his time there with nine goals and 22 assists for 31 points in 36 games in the 2025-26 season. It was a slight step back from his sophomore season, which saw him produce 12 goals and 27 assists for 39 points in 34 games.

Notre Dame finished their season last in the Big 10 Conference, with a 5-17-2 record within their conference and a 9-23-5 record overall.

Daily Faceoff prospect expert Steven Ellis had this to say about Knuble:

“Knuble was a big-time riser for 2023 after getting passed over the year prior. That’s partly because he adapted his game to use his linemates much more effectively and utilize give-and-go tactics. He’s a hard-nosed forward who likes to battle through the middle of the ice and can shove guys around near the boards. If he makes the NHL, it’s likely in a bottom-line energy role. But I think at the very least, he should be able to do well in the AHL as a middle-six guy.”

Knuble is the son of former NHLer Mike Knuble, who spent 16 seasons in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals and the Flyers. Mike had 278 goals and 548 points in 1,068 regular season games and 14 goals and 30 points in 65 playoff games, capturing a Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in 1998.
