Our first notable move of the PWHL Trade Deadline season.

On Monday night, the Boston Fleet acquired Jessie Eldridge from the Seattle Torrent. In exchange, the Torrent received forward Theresa Schafzahl in a one-for-one deal.

The move comes between two teams that are at opposite ends of the standings. This is also the trade between Fleet general manager Danielle Marmer and her former protegee, Torrent GM Meghan Turner.

The trade is a needed addition for the Fleet, a team looking to make a deep run in the Walter Cup Playoffs. Eldridge brings both experience and scoring that could help take the load off the likes of Alina Muller and Susanna Tapani.

Eldridge was picked up by the Torrent in the 2025 PWHL Expansion Draft, the team’s fourth pick in the draft. She joined the new team after spending the first two seasons of the league with the New York Sirens. After a solid first season in the PWHL, Eldridge found herself on one of the top lines in the league last year. Playing most of the 2024-25 campaign with Alex Carpenter and Sarah Fillier, Eldridge scored nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points.

This season with Seattle, the Barrie, Ont. native posted seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 19 games, though she has only scored three points in the five games since the Olympics break. Eldridge has a plus/minus of -5, averaging 17:39 of ice time.

In 73 career games in the PWHL, the 28-year-old has notched 23 goals and 28 assists for 51 points.

Schafzahl has been a player on the Fleet roster since the league’s inception, playing both depth and top-six roles. A reliable player in her own zone, the Austrian has never been a noted scorer since joining the PWHL. This season, she has scored two goals and four assists for six points in 19 games. She has a +6 rating while averaging just under 15 minutes of ice time per game.

Schafzahl was taken by the Fleet in the seventh round of the 2023 PWHL Draft. In 69 regular-season games, she has posted eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. She also notched three assists during the 2024 playoffs, as the Fleet made it all the way to the final before losing to the Minnesota Frost.

The Fleet (9-5-2-3) are first in the PWHL, three points ahead of the Frost and Montreal Victoire for second place. The Torrent (5-1-2-11) are last in the league, nine points back of the fourth and final playoff spot.
