Bobby McMann off to a strong start with the Kraken

The Seattle Kraken may have had to wait longer than expected for Bobby McMann to debut for them, but once he did, they had to be extremely pleased with the results. McMann, who was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline, had to sort out a visa issue before suiting up for Seattle. He finally played his first two games for the Kraken over the weekend, putting up three goals and two assists as Seattle earned two blowout wins to keep them in second wild card spot in the Western Conference.
When Seattle traded for McMann, there was some question as to whether a fringe playoff team like the Kraken should be acquiring rentals. But if the 29-year-old winger can continue to produce and help Seattle make the postseason for the second time in franchise history, the Kraken won’t have any regrets.
On Monday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, hosts Tyler Yaremchuk and Steve Peters discussed McMann’s hot start with Seattle and how the Kraken are positioned in their playoff chase.
Tyler Yaremchuk: My man of the weekend, I’m going to go with Bobby McMann. He finally debuted for the Seattle Kraken this weekend after coming over at the trade deadline, and it was worth the wait for Kraken fans. Five points in two games for McMann, who is a pending UFA this summer in a UFA class that doesn’t have a lot of good going for it. There’s a very good chance he could get paid. In the meantime, he’s fitting in well with the Seattle Kraken. We talk about the lack of quality hockey being played in the West, that’s what makes this little two-win weekend for the Kraken that much more important, because it’s put them in a spot now where if they can win their two games in hand, they’re going to tie the Edmonton Oilers, and they own the tiebreaker over the Edmonton Oilers if they win one of those games in regulation. They’d be right there when it comes to chasing the Vegas Golden Knights as well.
